Around 60% of construction industry companies in Hungary expect to close 2025 with falling revenue, according to a survey by the National Association of Construction Contractors (ÉVOSZ), reported by MTI.
The survey results, presented on Friday, show 27.5% of companies anticipate higher revenue for the full year and 12.5% see turnover stagnating.
Around 400 companies responded to the survey. Of those, 60% were SMEs. About 65% of respondents said their revenue had fallen in the first half of the year because of the impact of the war in Ukraine, a lack of state investments and a wait-and-see attitude among households.
Close to 88% of companies said their biggest challenge was a lack of orders. About half of companies complained of a shortage of skilled laborers.
ÉVOSZ head László Koji highlighted the positive impact the Home Start subsidized credit scheme for first-time home buyers and a support program for home energy efficiency improvements could have on the market.
