Budapest Bike-Sharing Data to be Available in Google Maps

Google is launching a new service in 25 cities worldwide, including the Hungarian capital, showing users the exact location of bicycle-sharing docking stations, mediapiac.com reported. The service, offered by Google’s Map function, will also provide real-time information on the number of available bikes in a particular docking station. There are an estimated 1,600 bicycle-sharing service providers with more than 18 million bikes available to city dwellers around the globe. Community cycling has become a widespread means of transport due to its convenient and environment-friendly nature. Google, which tested the service in New York City last year, paired up with Ito World to gather data from bike-sharing networks worldwide and automatically upload them into Google Maps. Hungarian energy company Mol operates the largest bike-sharing network in Budapest, called Mol Bubi, with a total of 143 docking stations and 1,846 bicycles as of May 2019.
