Hungary's annualized consumer price index stood at 4.3% in October, level with the rate in the previous month, according to data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Tuesday and quoted by MTI.
Food prices rose 3.9%, but increased just 1.7% excluding the price of eating out. The price of eggs jumped 20.2% and cooking oil prices climbed 5.3%, but the price of flour dropped 14.8%, dairy product prices fell 10.2% and pork was 5.8% cheaper.
Household energy prices rose 10.7% as piped gas prices climbed 23.7% and electricity prices increased 2.1%.
Consumer durable prices rose 2.4%.
Motor fuel prices fell 2.2%.
Prices of spirits and tobacco products increased 7.5% and clothing prices rose 1.7%. Service prices were up 6.7%.
CPI adjusted for better comparison with other European Union member states was 4.2%.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile fuel and food prices, was 4.2%.
The CPI calculated with a basket of goods and services used by pensioners was 4.3%.
In a month-on-month comparison, consumer prices were flat. Food prices, excluding the price of eating out, fell 0.4%. Service prices edged down 0.1%, household energy prices were unchanged and motor fuel prices dropped 1.1%.
