Hungary and Japan celebrated in 2009 the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 50th anniversary (jubilee) of the re-establishment of such relations in the building of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.

Celebration with music: guests were welcome by the Angolan Ambassador to Hungary, Joao Miguel Vahekeni to celebrate in the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal Budapest with a special performance of African music.
