EU halts Hungarian government deal with Russia

The EU has, at least temporarily, blocked Hungary’s EUR 12 billion nuclear power station deal with Russia as Euratom refused to approve Hungary’s plans to import nuclear fuel exclusively from Russia. Other parts of the deal are also under investigation.

Brokerage scandal continues in Hungary

The National Bank of Hungary suspended the brokerage licence of the Hungarian Quaestor on Tuesday, citing regulatory shortcomings, and said the firm may also have issued many more bonds than permitted under its issuance program, the Reuters reported.

Bus public transport in Budapest 100 years old

March 1, 1915 saw the launch of the first public service bus line in the Hungarian capital with two vehicles (an electric- and a gasoline-powered one). 100 years later, also on a Sunday, old buses paraded on Andrássy Avenue to commemorate the anniversary.
