More and more Hungarians leave the country

According to figures published by the Central Statistical Office, 31,000 Hungarian citizens moved abroad in 2014 for a period of more than one year. Analysts attribute this development to low wages and the lack of opportunities for younger people in Hungary.

Civilian groups distributed food to the poor in Miskolc this Tuesday, partly to defy the city’s mayor who refused the Child Nutrition Foundation’s similar initiative at Easter. The event turned into turmoil as the needy basically ransacked the food stands.

EU halts Hungarian government deal with Russia

The EU has, at least temporarily, blocked Hungary’s EUR 12 billion nuclear power station deal with Russia as Euratom refused to approve Hungary’s plans to import nuclear fuel exclusively from Russia. Other parts of the deal are also under investigation.

Brokerage scandal continues in Hungary
