In 2014, the world’s largest car engine producer, the Hungary-based plant of German carmaker Audi, produced the biggest number of engines to date and the number of cars rolling out of the factory was the triple of the 2013 figure. The headcount has grown further.

German car-maker Audi is to introduce a three-shift operation in the middle of August, this year at its plant in Gyõr, Northwest Hungary. The company says the reason for the change is growing demand for its premium models, especially the TT and the TTS Coupé.

As announced on Monday, the Hungarian unit of German carmaker Audi is to invest over HUF 2 billion (EUR 6.64 m) in a new vehicle development division in the northwestern Hungarian town of Gyõr. The new facility will create 70 jobs.

German carmaker Audi will invest up to EUR 900 million to extend its production site in Hungary, creating 1,800 new jobs, Audi Chairman of the Board of Management Rupert Stadler and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced at a press conference recently.
