Hungarian jazz musician Sándor Benkó, the founder and leader of the Benkó Dixieland Band passed away at the age of 75 in Budapest. An electric engineer by profession, 'Mr. Dixie Teacher', also taught at the Budapest Technical University for decades.

András Kállay-Saunders has been selected by Hungarian TV viewers to represent Hungary at the 2014 Eurovision song contest in the Danish capital, Copenhagen this May. His song ’Running’ received the most televotes in the national contest called ’A Dal’ (’The Song’).
