First snow of the season in Hungary

This past week-end saw the first snow of the season on higher-lying areas of Hungary as temperatures dropping following an unseasonable mild weather lasting for the past few weeks. However, the 5-10-centimeter snow is not suitable for skiing.

Debrecen gets early Christmas tree

It can never be too early. The eastern Hungarian city of Debrecen had its Christmas tree set up on Kossuth square this Friday. As the Hungarian news agency MTI reports, the 16-meter tall pine tree was offered to the city by a private individual.

Terrorism supporters detained in Hungary

Two British nationals convicted earlier for supporting terrorism, Abu Izzadeen (born as Trevor Brooks), and Simon Jonathan Keeler were detained by Hungarian police at Lõkösháza border crossing point on Sunday when discovered on a train heading for Romania.

Hungary’s gross domestic product rose by 0.5% quarter on quarter in the July-September period of 2015, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday. According to figures adjusted for calendar effects, growth slowed to 2.3% year on year.
