Hungarian students die in Italy bus accident

16 people, most of them grammar school students from Budapest, have died in a bus accident on the motorway near Verona, Italy Friday night. The bus first hit the motorway barrier and crashed into the pillar of a flyover, followed by a fire on board.

Pécs to receive UNESCO recognition

Hungarian skater wins European title

Hungary's Sándor Shaolin Liu won the 1,000-meter event at the European Short Track Championship in Torino, Italy. He also finished second at the 3,000-meter superfinal while other members of the Hungarian team won another five silver medals.

Magyar Telekom sells Montenegrin unit

Hungarian telecoms group Magyar Telekom has signed an agreement with Hrvatski Telekom d.d. for the sale of its majority (76.53%) stake in Crnogorski Telekom A.D. Podgorica. The value of the package is about HUF 38 billion (some EUR 123.5).

Minus 28.1 degrees Celsius (that is, minus 18.58 degrees Fahrenheit) was measured at dawn in the village of Tésa - a new cold record. The previous one, minus 26.5 degrees Celsius was measured 32 years ago in nearby Romhány.
