New EU Representative in Hungary appointed

The European Commission has appointed Gábor Zupkó to the position of Head of Representation of the Commission in Hungary as of December 1. Zupkó, a Hungarian national, is currently Director "Resources" in DG Communication.

Afghanistan embassy closed down in Budapest

The embassy of Afghanistan in Budapest closed effective July 1, citing austerity reasons, the Hungarian news agency MTI quoted the online news portal hvg.hu. The website said the information had been confirmed by Hungary’s foreign ministry.

Orbán to visit Singapore this fall

Officials are preparing the next round of bilateral talks between Hungary and Singapore: Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is due to visit Singapore in October or November this year - Non-Resident Ambassador to Hungary Justice (Ret.)
