With three gold, two silver and four bronze collected, Hungary became the 6th most successful nation in the swimming pool at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazany, Russia. Considering other aquatics events, too, Hungary was the 8th most successful country.

A new fire engine – or as it is called by professionals: vehicle sprinkler –, developed by Hungarian engineers, was presented at the 9th district fire deprtment in Budapest. The Heros Aquadux X 1500 fire engine is based on Renault chassis.

The northeastern Hungarian town of Tiszaújváros hosts its 19th consecutive triathlon World Cup event in the framework of a triathlon festival between August 1 and 9. The World Cup is expected to be attended by some 200 competitors from 41 countries.

Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel won the 30th Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix car race at the Hungaroring circuit in Mogyoród, just east of Budapest this Sunday. Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat finished second with team mate Daniel Ricciardo coming in third.

A crossing point over the river Tisza near the Hungarian city of Szeged was opened this Wednesday. The project - linking Hungary with Serbia - was in large part financed by the European Union. Two more crossing points on this border will open this month.

The Hungarian chili sauce 'Spirit of Attila' won the Hot Sauce Hot category at the 2015 World Hot Sauce Awards held in New Iberia, Louisiana in the United States. The competition attracted 284 entries from 109 producers from 14 countries in 49 categories.

NATO radar starts operation in Hungary

A three-dimensional NATO radar deployed in Medina, south-central Hungary, begins operation this Wednesday, and as a result, Hungarian airspace control is complete, Defence Minister Csaba Hende announced on Tuesday at the Medina radar station.

Severe summer storm hits Budapest

One person died and 29 others were injured in the storms that hit Hungary on Wednesday, a spokesman for the disaster management authority was quoted by dailynewshungary as saying. The most harm was caused in Budapest hit by the storm in the afternoon.
