Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszú was voted the third best European athlete of the year in a survey involving 27 European news agencies. She finished behind Real Madrid's Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and British tennis player Andy Murray.

Hungary's Katinka Hosszú was named as the female Swimmer of the Year at the FINA/Alisports World Aquatics Gala held in Windsor, Canada this Sunday. She won three gold medals and a silver at the Summer Olympics in Rio earlier this year.
