A multimedia fountain and Budapest's first 'light garden' were inaugurated on Margaret Isalnd on the river Danube this Friday. The municipal council voted earlier this month to enhance the light and water show elements of the musical fountain.

A second-degree heat alert has been issued for Hungary by Deputy State Secretary Tamás Szentes, who also acts as Chief Medical Officer.The waring is effective to midnight next Monday based on a forecast by the National Meteorological Service.

The night watchman trapped on board of a ferry swept away some 500 meters to the middle of the Tisza river by ice-floes at the village of Tiszacsege, eastern Hungary, was airlifted to safety this Monday by a military helicopter.
