A man of 80 years of age with chronic illness passed away this Monday as a result of Covid-19 coronavirus infection, bringing the number of fatalities related to this disease to eight in Hungary with the number of people recovering from the virus infection increasing to 21.
As of this Monday evening, 167 people are registered to have been diagnosed with the Covid-19 coronavirus in this country and 101 are in quarantine. Officially, 5,515 people were tested for this disease in Hungary.
In related news, Tibor Lakatos, head of the duty center of the Operational Group responsible for the containment of the coronavirus infection, said border controls are ongoing in the interest of containing the epidemic.
This Friday, the Hungarian government asked parliament for the extraordinary approval of a bill that would authorize the government to extend the current state of emergency (which is in place due to the coronavirus situation) for an unlimited time in which the government would rule the country with decrees, not giving parliament the right to control government actions. However, the opposition did not give its consent to this procedure fearing that it would give too much power to the government, and thus, the government will have to wait eight days before the bill is passed.
Hungarians are advised that the elderly, students and those returning from abroad, as well as anyone else able to do so, stay home and for everyone to follow all rules and recommendations.to stay at home and the authorities call for citizens to comply with the regulations.
