Audi Hungaria Co. Ltd. in Győr, NW Hungary plans to shut down production from Monday due to the international coronavirus situation and the uncertainty in the supply of parts - the company informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, production will be suspended at most of the Volkswagen Group sites, including Audi AG's Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Brussels, Mexico and Győr sites.
The company, in agreement with the workers' council and the Volkswagen Group, is to stop production in an organized and controlled manner by the end of the week.
The announcement quotes Peter Kössler, Audi AG's board member responsible for production and logistics, chairman of the board of directors at Audi Hungaria, and head of the international crisis panel, as saying that the company has already taken numerous measures to protect the health of its employees.
