The highest temperature of this summer in Hungary so far, 36.7 degrees Celsius, was measured on Saturday in Budakalász, just north of Budapest. Experts, this will probably be this year's temperature peak.
The National Meteorological Service said on Sunday that Saturday’s maxima were around 34-35 degrees in the hottest places. In Budakalász, north of Budapest, on the other hand, almost 37 degrees were measured.
The Service also pointed out that the data measured in Budakalász may be of greater significance than the average, because it could easily happen that this summer there will be no higher temperature, which is registered by instruments.
Temperatures are forecast to rise to 30-34 degrees in the following days. Due to the danger of heat, a first-degree warning is still in place in much of the country. They are also warned of thunderstorms in several places.
Due to high temperatures, people flooded pools and waterparks in and around the Hungarian capital.
