Favorite Tourist Destinations in October

This October, based on the number of guests, Budapest, Hajdúszoboszló and Eger were the most popular tourist destinations in Hungary.

According to the Hungarian Tourism Agency, 627,000 guests arrived at the accommodation establishments in Hungary in October, 591,000 of them were from within the country.
The accommodations registered 1.6 million guest nights, of which 1.4 million were spent by domestic travelers.
As for domestic guest nights, 87% of last October's figure were realized in October this year.
Of the rural accommodations, as in September, hotels were again the most popular, with travelers spending almost half, or 49%, of all guest nights here.
In addition to the Balaton tourist area, where 19% of all domestic guest nights were spent in the past month, the Mátra-Bükk (14%), including the historic town of Eger, and Budapest surroundings (8%) tourist areas, as well as the capital (9%) were the most popular.
Budapest was still the most popular among foreigners, with 44% of all foreign guest nights. After that, the surroundings of Budapest (7%) and Debrecen and its region (7%), including the spa town of Hajdúszoboszló, were the most visited based on the number of foreign guest nights.
According to the regulations in force in October, only foreigners from the countries of the Visegrád Group could come to Hungary for tourism purposes. However, nationals of other countries were also allowed to enter for business, study or health care purposes. According to the October data, most foreigners came from Ukraine, Germany, Romania, South Korea and Austria.
