Increasing Numbers of COVID-19 Infections and Deaths

By Thursday, the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) was detected in another 1,569 Hungarian citizens, thus increasing the official number of infected people identified in Hungary to 363,450.

There were 93 deaths, mostly elderly, chronic patients, so, the number of deaths rose to 12,291.

The number of people who recovered has also been steadily rising, standing currently at 249,003, while the number of active infections has dropped to 102,156, according to the government's coronavir virus information page.

3,669 coronavirus patients are cared for in hospital, 255 of whom are on ventilators. So far, 161,215 people have been vaccinated, of which 26,293 have already received their second jab. The campaign-like vaccination of health workers will be completed within days, and from today the vaccinations will be focused on nursing homes.
