Worsening but Positive External Trade in Hungary

Surplus on external trade in goods amounted to EUR 310 million in December, exports decreased by 18% and imports by 14% compared to November.

Latest figures by the Central Statistical Office suggest that in EUR terms, the value of exports was 12% and that of imports 9.2% higher in December 2020 than in the same period of the previous year. The balance of external trade in goods improved by EUR 211 million.

In December 2020, the value of exports amounted to EUR 8,412 million (HUF 3,024 billion) and that of imports to EUR 8,102 million (HUF 2,914 billion); the surplus on external trade in goods was EUR 310 million (HUF 110 billion) while the share of EU-27 Member States was 75% in exports and 68% in imports.

In December 2020 compared to a year earlier, the value of exports increased by 12% and that of imports by 9.2% in EUR terms.
