Leier Hungária Ltd. is to carry out capacity expanding improvements at three of its Hungarian sites, Hajdúszoboszló, Pécs and Jánosháza. The total value of the investments is more than EUR 18.5 million. The company will create 20 new jobs as a result of the improvements while retaining the existing headcount of 1,021 people. Hungarian taxpayers are to cover about 10% of the investment costs.

Leier has been a key player in the Hungarian construction sector for decades. The Austrian family owned Leier Group has nine Hungarian building material manufacturing plants. The company’s largest concrete tile factory is being built in Hajdúszoboszló, which is expected to be completed at the end of 2021. In addition to the wavy concrete tile production, flat tile production will also appear as a new product. The plant’s capacity will increase from the current 120,000 tons to 220,000 tons thanks to the production of this new product.

During environmentally friendly production, the company uses only natural materials, therefore, the Leier concrete tiles can be recycled in 100%. Concrete tile products will be sold mainly in Ukraine, Romania, and Slovakia. As a result of the projects carried out in Pécs and Jánosháza, Leier can produce its products with greater efficiency and increased capacity. Concrete masonry blocks, quarry tiles, paving blocks and curb stones are made in Pécs. Production capacity will increase from 75,000 tons to 100,000 tons by replacing an older production line.

Besides the existing production line, an additional production machine has been installed in the company’s plant in Jánosháza, which is also suitable for manufacturing paving blocks and concrete masonry elements. Production capacity will increase from 120,000 tons to 200,000 tons there, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency reports.
