Pandemic: Official Death Toll Exceeds 29,000 in Hungary

The official number of fatalities related to the new coronavirus infection has fallen under 100 a day in the past week but with the 71 Thursday deaths reported Friday morning, the total number is now 29,041.

This number per 100,000 people of the population puts Hungary among the worst-hit countries of the world.

1190 new infections, bringing the total number of identified infections since the beginning of the epidemic to 796 390. The number of active infected persons has decreased to 158 458.
2612 patients with coronavirus are in hospital, 338 of whom are on ventilators.
Overall, the intensity of the epidemic is decreasing, with the daily death toll last at this low level in late February and the number of hospitalised people returning to the level of last autumn.

The total number of vaccinated people is 4 483 598, of whom 2 626 857 have already received their second vaccination. More than 5 million people have already registered for vaccination and 80% have received it.
