From 19 June to 17 July, MÁV Hungarian Railways carries out priority maintenance on the Nyugati (Western) railway station track network, with its complete closure. During this period, no trains will arrive or depart from Nyugati.
In addition to the previously announced changes, the railway company has taken additional measures to facilitate travel, with the involvement of the national bus company Volánbusz. Volánbusz will accept rail season tickets on all routes it operates, for all or part of the municipalities for which the season ticket is issued.
More information about the changes can be found at www.mav.hu/nyugati. MÁV recommends everyone to plan their journeys in advance using the transport companies' timetable search.
Nyugati railway station handles around 18 million passengers a year, excluding epidemic periods. Therefore, the closure is timed to coincide with the holiday period, in order to minimize the daily routine of commuters affected by maintenance that could not be carried out while maintaining train services, MÁV said in a statement.
