224 patients died on Monday, bringing the total number of deaths in this country to 35,835, the official information site said on Tuesday morning.
In the fourth wave, the number of daily deaths has never been so high. The last time more deaths were reported on a single day was on April 16.
4,311 new cases of coronavirus infection have been diagnosed, bringing the total number of people infected since the start of the outbreak to 1,161,879.
So far, 938,836 people have recovered from the infection and the number of people currently infected is 187,208, a decrease of 2,545 compared to yesterday.
There are currently 7,568 people in hospital and 618 on ventilators, an increase of 128 people in hospital and 32 fewer on ventilators compared to yesterday.
The number of people vaccinated has increased: 6,162,758 people have already received the first vaccination and 5,870,466 have requested the second. The third vaccination has been requested by 2,790,263 people. This means that 2,832 people were vaccinated with the first dose on Monday, 3,398 with the second and 24,763 with the third dose.
