The University of Pécs (PTE) in southern Hungary has been ranked 21st in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, an international program of 1,050 participating universities. In Hungary, PTE is ranked first in this respect – for the third time now.
"Through its Green University Program, the University of Pécs wishes to further enhance its sustainability efforts and will do its utmost to promote environmentally conscious attitudes in all sectors," the institution’s Chancellor István Decsi pointed out.
According to the Program Coordinator of the PTE Green University, Tünde Kulcsár, "thanks to its conscious, disciplined environmental ambitions and its efforts to achieve the SDGs, PTE has been able to move ahead in the ever-expanding international ranking year after year."
According to the list, the world's "greenest" university in 2022 – maintaining its top position from last year – is Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands, followed by Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham, both in the United Kingdom.
