The new generation is the central theme of the MBH Bank Gourmet Festival, one of the most comprehensive events in Hungarian gastronomy, which takes place this weekend at the Millenáris event center in the Hungarian capital.

According to the organizers, the core of the event remains the huge open-air "walking-tasting" with around a hundred exhibitors: the best fine dining restaurants, bistros, alternative restaurants, pastry shops, wineries, bars and breweries of the capital and the countryside.

Never before has there been so much new cuisine on offer: more than a quarter of the 50 participating restaurants are newcomers to the festival.

Many of the new exhibitors and the new generation of innovators also appear on the Gourmet Academy stage, where the audience can enjoy more in-depth professional content as well as lighter discussions, including on the arts.

Another interesting feature of this year's event is that writer and literary historian Krisztián Nyáry explores the relationship between Hungarian literature and gastronomy on stage with chef Viktor Segal, revealing, for example, that poet Sándor Petőfi, whose 200th birthday is being celebrated this year, was not only an innovator in literature but also an enthusiastic supporter of the Hungarian gastronomic revolution of his time.
