Nestlé Hungária Ltd. closed the first half of this year with a loss of HUF 1.86 billion on rising turnover, following a profit after tax of HUF 1.48 billion in the same period last year, the company announced on the website of the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday.
According to the report, the loss was due to the high interest costs of the loans taken out to finance the HUF 140 billion capacity expansion project announced in January.
The food company's half-yearly turnover rose from HUF 103.9 billion to HUF 134.9 billion in the first half of the year, with net sales of domestic sales of around HUF 106 billion and foreign sales of HUF 28.8 billion.
Animal products accounted for more than HUF 74.3 billion of sales, with the division's annual growth rate of 40%. Traditional Nestlé products achieved sales of HUF 54.3 billion, up 20% on the first half of last year. The Nespresso division's turnover was HUF 6.17 billion, up 11% on the same period last year.
