Mercedes-Benz sales declined last year, mainly due to the sale of around a quarter fewer all-electric cars.

The Mercedes-Benz Group sold 625,800 cars and commercial vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2024, 2% fewer than a year earlier. And the group's annual sales fell 4% to 2.389 million.

Passenger car sales in the fourth quarter were up 1% year-on-year to 520,100 in the fourth quarter, while full-year sales in 2024 were down 3% year-on-year to 1.983 million in 2023.

Mercedes attributed its sales decline to weaker demand for electric cars, model changes and market conditions in China.

Mercedes-Benz sold 26% fewer all-electric cars in the fourth quarter than a year earlier at 49.2,000, while its year-on-year sales fell 23% to 185.1,000.

Passenger car sales in Europe fell by 3% in the full year last year to 641.8 thousand, including a 9% drop in Germany to 213,500. Mercedes-Benz Cars sold 7% fewer cars in China and 9% more in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 405,600 commercial vehicles in 2024, down 9% year-on-year, and 19,500 all-electric vans, down 14%.

Van sales fell by 3% in Europe last year, including 9% in Germany. Van sales in China fell by 20% and in the United States by 34%.
