Chinese-owned Halms has once again chosen Hungary as the location for its latest strategic investment, according to the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA).

Following the establishment of one of the country’s leading aluminum processing facilities in Debrecen, the company has announced the construction of a new automotive component manufacturing plant in Miskolc, NE Hungary. The EUR 200 million investment, to be implemented in three phases, is set to create 1,000 new jobs in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County.

Headquartered in China, Zhejiang Huashuo Technology Co., Ltd. is a global leader in the production of e-mobility components, particularly drivetrain housings for electric vehicles. The company also manufactures and develops aluminum parts and body structures for vehicle control systems. With over 150 patents and a team of more than 300 R&D engineers, Huashuo operates in China, South Korea and Europe. Its customer portfolio includes some of the world’s leading automotive brands such as Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and Tesla.

Halms Hungary Ltd., the Hungarian subsidiary of the group, launched its first aluminum processing plant in Debrecen in 2023, where it produces components including engine covers, gearboxes and inverter housings. With its latest decision, the group is significantly expanding its manufacturing capacity in Hungary by establishing a new facility in Miskolc, also to be developed in three phases.

The new facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, automated systems, and detailed quality control protocols, in line with the company’s global standards. In addition to creating 1,000 new jobs and operating in accordance with strict environmental regulations, Halms has expressed its commitment to becoming an active contributor to the local community by forging strong partnerships with the municipality, civil organizations, and the local university.
