A 6MW gas engine has begun operating in the Győr Industrial Park, marking the successful completion of the entirely self-financed investment by the energy services firm ALTEO.
The power plant, designed around a Wärtsilä 18V34SG gas engine with a capacity of 6MWe, was built in the Győr Industrial Park as a greenfield investment under the main contract of ALTEO Plc. The joint project with the previously commissioned 8MW/16MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) also has further development potential, given the free space next to the power plant building, the proximity of the industrial park and the usable heat output of the gas engine.
The Győr facility is unique in that it combines three different technologies – battery energy storage, gas engines and the ALTEO's 25 MW wind farm in Bőny – are connected to the national electricity grid at a common point, utilizing the existing grid connection capacity of the wind farm and increasing its utilization.
