E.ON Drive Infrastructure Hungary (EDRI), E.ON's charging station operator, is adding a new feature to its electric vehicle charging network: automatic Plug&Charge, which simplifies the charging process for electric vehicles, MTI reports.
In a statement sent to MTI, EDRI emphasizes that it is one of the first in Hungary to make this feature available nationwide. They added that the introduction of the new feature is a milestone in the company's long-term strategy, as the main focus of its ambitious network expansion plans is to develop nationwide coverage, reliable operation, and convenient charging features simultaneously.
The essence of the Plug&Charge function is that it automatically starts charging after connecting the charging cable, without the need for an app, QR code activation, or credit card payment. Billing and payment also take place automatically in the background, and invoices and company accounts can be requested in the same way as when charging with the app. To use this feature, users must first register their vehicle with an e-mobility service provider. The Plug&Charge feature is currently supported by several car manufacturers, and the range of compatible vehicles is constantly expanding, according to the announcement.
The innovation is available across the charging station operator's entire domestic DC network, at more than 100 locations, with charging capacities ranging from 50 to 300 kilowatts (kW).
The E.ON Drive Infrastructure Hungary network already has more than 430 public charging points in Hungary, including 102 ultra-fast charging points with a capacity of between 150 and 400 kW.
E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI), part of the E.ON Group, is a leading European charging station operator. The public charging network it has developed, built and operates can be used for any type of electric vehicle. The company operates more than 8,300 public charging points in 11 European countries: Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, the Netherlands and Hungary.
