Hungary had a EUR 713 million trade surplus in goods in October, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Monday show.
Exports inched down 0.9% year-on-year to EUR 12.844 billion. Imports edged up 0.6% to EUR 12.131 billion.
Trade with other European Union member states accounted for 75% of Hungary's exports and 71% of its imports during the month.
Hungary's exports to the rest of the world decreased 4.0%, while imports from those countries rose 10% in volume, KSH noted.
Hungary's terms of trade improved 3.0% during the period as the forint strengthened 2.9% against the euro and 9.0% to the dollar.
For the period January-October, Hungary's trade surplus reached EUR 8.525 billion. Exports increased 1.4% to EUR 123.271 billion and imports edged up 1.0% to EUR 114.747 billion.
