The number of guests at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary edged down 1.0% to 1,446,000 in April from the same month a year earlier, while the number of guest nights dropped 4.0% to 3,317,000, according to data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) and reviewed by MTI.
The number of domestic guests rose 3.7% to 717,000, but the number of foreign visitors fell 5.2% to 730,000.
The number of guest nights spent by domestic travelers increased inched up 0.8% to 1,560,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors fell 8.0% to 1,757,000.
Visitors from Germany accounted for the largest number of guest nights: 203,000. Visitors from Czechia spent 116,000 guest nights and visitors from Italy 116,000. Guest nights spent by travelers from Asia dropped 46.1% to 151,000.
Gross revenue of tourism accommodations slipped 0.5% to HUF 87.7 billion.
A total of 24,436 tourism accommodations hosted guests in March, including 21,966 private and other accommodations. In January-April, the number of guests at tourism accommodations rose 1.8% to 4,739,000. Guest nights edged up 0.5% to 10,809,000.
