With a renewed approach and involving the entire town, the Tokaj Wine Days will welcome visitors on June 5 and 6 in NE Hungary under the theme "White Wines, Colorful Culture," organizers told MTI.
They noted that one of the event’s most significant highlights is that, following a two-year renovation, the event is returning to the town’s main square. They added that, following the renovation, the town center will welcome Tokaj residents and visitors with a new look, well-organized spaces, fresh energy and revitalized services.
"The most important message of this year’s Wine Days is to fill Tokaj’s historic streets and squares with life. The event does not invite the public to a single central venue, but to Tokaj itself," they stated.
In addition to the central venue, guests will be welcomed with programs in the town’s cellars, wine bars, charming terraces, and restaurants. As they noted, the event deliberately breaks with the traditional “single-venue fair-like” format, offering instead a more intimate, elegant, and experience-based format.
The goal is for visitors to meet Tokaj winemakers, get to know local service providers in person, and discover the revitalized downtown area at the same time.
At the event’s Kossuth Square venue, visitors can enjoy concerts and cultural programs on Friday and Saturday, and an outdoor exhibition titled “40 Years in Pictures” will also be held. The exhibition traces the town’s development in connection with Tokaj regaining its town status four decades ago. In the evenings, a spectacular light show will be presented in the town’s main square.
In addition, several wineries and restaurants are preparing programs, culinary demonstrations, and wine tastings in connection with the event in the heart of the historic Tokaj Wine Region.
