The 35th Valley of Arts Festival, opening on Friday in several villages in the northern Balaton region, will feature 4,000 programs until August 2, including theater performances, concerts, children’s activities, guided tours, craft workshops and events focused on nature conservation.

Andrea Rost, the government commissioner responsible for Hungarian music culture, said at the official opening of the festival that the program included "renowned artists lending prestige to a festival and young artists shaping the future of the arts."

Ervin Nagy, the deputy state secretary for culture, described the festival as a remarkable example of a Hungary free from cultural conflict and said the festival brought the landscape to life and turned culture into a common good. "Art must be continually created, and it is the government’s role to support those who wish to create value," he said.

A key objective of the festival is nature conservation, with organizers promoting plastic-free catering, selective waste collection and encouraging all visitors to cherish and protect nature.
