BMW has produced the 50,000th iX3 model at its plant in Debrecen (E Hungary), the German car maker has said.
The production milestone was reached nine months after the start of series production, amid strong demand for the first series-production model of the Neue Klasse.
"The 50,000th BMW iX3 underscores the capabilities of our plant in Debrecen: never before have we built so many vehicles so quickly at a new plant," BMW board member for production Raymond Wittmann pointed out.
The production ramp-up was accelerated by the introduction of a second shift, in February, well ahead of schedule, BMW said.
Supported by strong customer orders, the company is on track to soon reach the next important milestone of 100,000 incoming orders, it added.
