The number of guests at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary fell 2.2% to 1,856,000 in June from the same month a year earlier, while the number of guest nights was down 2.5% at 4,328,000, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday show.
The number of domestic guests decreased 2.6% to 982,000, and the number of foreign visitors dipped 1.8% at 874,000.
The number of guest nights spent by domestic travelers increased was down 3.6% at 2,187,000, and guest nights spent by foreign visitors fell 1.3% to 2,141,000.
Visitors from Germany accounted for the largest number of guest nights: 275,500. Visitors from Poland spent 202,700 guest nights and visitors from the UK 127,200. Guest nights spent by travelers from Asia dropped 9.2% to 239,200.
Gross revenue of tourism accommodations slipped 0.5% to HUF 107.7bilion. A total of 30,215 tourism accommodations hosted guests in June, including 27,335 private and other accommodations. In January-June, the number of guests at tourism accommodations rose 1.0% to 8,348,000. Guest nights edged down 0.4% to 19,002,000.
