E.ON Hungária Group has been awarded HUF 230bn from the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) to scale up electricity grid capacity for an additional 2,323 MW of renewables by 2030, the utilities company's deputy-CEO, Ádám Katona said on Thursday.
The deputy-CEO acknowledged the government for successfully lobbying to secure the release of Hungary's EU funding.
He said E.ON Hungária had also won an additional HUF 13.5 billion for the installation of a further 237,000 smart meters by the end of 2028.
Ádám Katona emphasized that these investments will lay the foundation for the direction in which the country’s economy can move forward for many decades to come.
After all, it is important to create an environment that fosters a highly predictable and well-considered energy policy. In this regard, the E.ON Hungária Group would like to be a long-term partner to both the Hungarian government and the Hungarian people.
E.ON Hungária is the largest grid operator in Budapest, Pest County and Transdanubia. It has ploughed HUF 690 billion into grid investments since 2022.
