MNB International Reserves Slip in September

International reserves of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) stood at EUR 62.061 billion at the end of September, down EUR 1.441 billion from a month earlier, data released by the central bank on Wednesday show.

Stock of cash, deposits and securities in the reserves slipped EUR 270 million to EUR 45.524 billion, while stock of "other reserve instruments" dropped EUR 725 million to EUR 1.194 billion.

The value of monetary gold in the reserves dropped EUR 478 million to EUR 13.051 billion. Stock of IMF SDRs stood at EUR 360 million.

The reserves were EUR 11.818 billion higher than at the end of 2025.

International reserves comprise of monetary gold, including gold bullion and unallocated gold accounts; the SDR receivables, the RPF i.e. Reserve Position in the Fund, the foreign currency assets: foreign currency cash, deposit and securities, and other receivables: receivables not belonging to any of the categories above, e.g. liquidity providing repo receivables.
