Consumer Prices 1.6% Higher on Average than a Year Ago

Consumer prices were 1.6% higher on average in September 2026 than in same month of previous year.

Compared to August, prices were up by 0.2%.

In 12 months, compared to September 2025:

Food prices decreased by 1.3% (and by 4.6% excluding food and beverage serving services), within which the price of potatoes went up by 7.8%, those of a cup of coffee in catering and of prepaid fixed-price meals at canteens both by 6.6%, edible oil prices by 6.4%, the price of meals (not prepaid) at restaurants by 5.8%, that of meals at schools by 5.7%, buffet product prices by 5.4% and the price of candies and honey by 2.7%.

Within the product group, the price of canned meat lessened by 26.7%, that of butter by 15.6%, fresh domestic and tropical fruit prices by 14.4%, the price of pork by 11.0%, that of cheese by 10.2%, sugar prices by 8.2%, the price of milk by 8.1%, that of coffee in shops by 7.4%, pasta product and milk product (excluding cheese) prices by 6.7% each, the price of chocolate and cocoa by 6.2%, that of eggs by 5.4%, poultry meat prices by 5.3% and the price of fresh vegetables by 4.1%.

Services became 4.9%, within which theater tickets 17.6%, the transport of goods 14.9%, a taxi 11.5%, postal services 9.6%, personal care services 8.4%, the repairs and maintenance of vehicles 8.3%, recreation in the country 7.8%, the repairs of major household appliances 7.7%, the repairs and maintenance of dwellings 7.3% and telephone services as well as internet and other public entertainment tickets both 7.0% more expensive.

Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices rose by 3.3%, within which tobacco prices by 4.2%. 4.0% less was to be paid for electricity, gas and other fuels, within which 11.0% less for natural and manufactured gas and 1.3% more for electricity.

Consumer durable prices were up by 1.2%, within which jewelry cost 26.0%, kitchen and other furniture 4.2%, living and dining room furniture 1.9% and second-hand passenger cars 1.3% more, while TV sets 4.8%, vacuum cleaners and air-conditioning 3.5%, refrigerators and freezers 2.2% and motorcycles 1.5% less for consumers. Pharmaceutical products became 1.3% and motor fuels 6.9% more expensive.
