US-owned restaurant chain Pizza Hut is expanding in Hungary by opening a franchise restaurant in Nagykanizsa (W Hungary) in the first quarter of 2027 and one unit in Budapest in the first half next year, AmRest Vendéglátó, the operator of the chain in Hungary has announced.
With the new units, the restaurant chain will expand to 31 locations, 23 of which will be company-operated and eight of which will operate under the franchise model.
As part of its national strategy, AmRest is continuously examining the possibility of expansion in every settlement where the population including the agglomeration areas is at least 50,000.
They also noted that they are open to analyzing business opportunities identified by a prospective franchise partner at other locations.
They added that, as with all franchise partners, the minimum investment for opening the new restaurant in Nagykanizsa is HUF 100 million, and the agreement is valid for at least ten years and is renewable. They explained that the Nagykanizsa location is expected to create ten new jobs.
No final decision has yet been made regarding the exact location of the 23rd company-owned restaurant planned for the capital. They anticipate a longer planning and construction process for this project, as they are planning a so-called “large restaurant” in the capital.
Apart from Pizza Hut, AmRest also operates KFC and Starbucks units in Hungary. Last year, it had a revenue of HUF 83.8 billion.
