US automotive supplier BorgWarner inaugurated a HUF 24 billion development at its base in Oroszlány (west of Budapest) this week.
The investment, which is expected to raise headcount at the base to around 1,000, is supported by a HUF 4.8 billion government grant, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
In addition to turbochargers, the plant will now also make parts for cabin heating.
16 US investments worth HUF 200 billion arrived to Hungary last year, and bilateral trade reached USD 10 billion, a record figure, the statement pointed out.
Hungary is one of the three countries in the world where all three major German premium car brands have a production base, and in addition, three other car factories operate in the country.
