Hungarian film director Ildikó Enyedi will receive the lifetime achievement award of the The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) at the 46th Cairo Film Festival, the federation said on its website on Thursday.

The award will be handed over to Ildikó Enyedi before the screening of her latest film, 'Csendes barát' (Silent Friend), on November 20, the federation added. The film won six awards at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year.

Enyedi's 2017 film 'Testről es lélekről (Of Body and Soul), won a Golden Bear and the FIPRESCI Award at the Berlin Film Festival, and it was also nominated for an Oscar, the statement noted.

The FIPRESCI 100 Award was founded to mark the 100th anniversary of the association. Hungarian director István Szabó received one in Cannes, Tsai Ming-liang of Malaysia in Venice and the Polish Jerzy Skolimowski in Gdynia earlier this year. Ildikó Enyedi will be the last recipient, the statement said.

'Silent Friend', a German-French-Hungarian co-production produced with the support of the Hungarian Film Institute, draws parallels between the connections of plants and humans. The film features Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Luna Wedler, Enzo Brumm and Lea Seydoux, as well as a 200-year-old gingko tree, the statement highlighted.

The film has received awards at film festivals in La Roche-sur-Yon, Chicago and Valladolid, and is on the list of films tapped for the European Film Award.
