Hungary's population dropped below 10 million in August this year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported. Without the positive effects of migration, this would have occured earlier.
The number of births dropped at a higher rate than the number of deaths, which resulted a natural loss of 25,224 people during the period of January-August, the Statistical Office said.
The positive effects of migration however improved that figure by 15,000, KSH said.
As a result Hungary's population at the end of August was 9,999,000.
