On March 14th, a 24-hour relay will take place around the world, held by Paris 2024, the organizing committee of this year's Summer Olympic Games. The relay will pass through all five continents and engage the general public and figures from the world of sport in hour long sporting activities." In Hungary, the events of the round-the-world relay are organized by the French Institute in collaboration with several partners.
The French Institute in Budapest says in a statement that "we are proud to mobilize people to make this special celebration even more resonant and to convey the Olympic and Paralympic values alongside Hungarian athletes. Cooperating partners in Hungary include the Hungarian Olympic Committee, Hungarian Paralympic Committee, ELTE University, Hungarian sports federations, in particular the Fencing and Judo Federations and the Hungarian Table Tennis Federation.
“The baton will be received virtually from Libya at 9:00 and passed on at 10:00 Mauritania, by Her Excellency, Claire Legras, the Ambassador of France to Hungary with a tweet,” the statement adds.
The events in Hungary will include exchanges, talks and demonstrations with top Hungarian fencing, judo and table tennis athletes, but there will also be demonstration sessions for school children in judo, fencing and table tennis to practice competitive and team spirit.
On April 16, 100 days before the Olympic Games, a month-long film series on sport will begin at the French Institute in Budapest, which will hold an Olympic Day on June 23.
