Around 35% of Hungarian employers plan new hires in the second quarter, a fresh survey by staffing company Manpower Hungary shows. Just 17% of companies plan to reduce headcount.
40% of respondents plan to increase their workforce due to the growth of their company and market expansion, 29% said they will now fill positions that have been vacant for some time following the departure of previous employees, while 26% indicated that they are entering new market segments and are looking for employees to fill the new positions required for this.
Managing director Péter Varga said companies in the construction, real estate, retail, logistics and financial sectors could step up recruitment in the near future. Headcount is also set to rise at automotive industry and IT companies, he added.
ManpowerGroup conducted its quarterly survey among nearly 42,000 employers in 42 countries around the world, including a representative sample of 540 employers in Hungary, who were asked about their hiring intentions for the second quarter of 2026.
