The first BYD passenger cars sold in Hungary were handed over to their owners in a ceremony attended by BYD's top managers who are in Hungary for the first time.
At the ceremony, Michael Shu, Managing Director of BYD Europe, recalled that the company entered Hungary 19 years ago as a bus manufacturer and started selling its electric passenger cars in 2023. In the same year, it was announced that BYD would build its most modern factory in Szeged to serve the entire European market. The Hungarian government has strongly supported the company in its goal of developing electric mobility, for which Michael Shu expressed his thanks.
Founded in 1995, BYD is a manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and independently develops its powertrains, batteries, semiconductors, electric motors and control electronics for its powertrains. Last year, the company produced more than three million pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles globally, making it the world's largest NEV manufacturer.
Its vehicles are present in 19 European markets. In the Central and Eastern European region, it was the first to open a showroom in Hungary.
