Levente Szemerei and Eszter Csillag won the 37th Spar Budapest Marathon’s men’s and women’s race, respectively this Sunday. More than 17,000 people took part in the different events of the two-day running festival.
Szemerei completed the 42.195 kilometers in 2:21:44 and Csillag in 2:59:16. In the men's race, Irishman Derek Crammond was second in 2:29:57, while Hungary’s Benedek Kaposi third in 2:32:43. In the women's race, the other two participants on the medal podium were also Hungarians: Réka Bátai (3:01:04) was second and Szonja Ágnes Garai (3:04:59) third.
In the 30-km race, Finland's Aki Nummela (1:40:25) was the fastest in the men's race and Claire Walton (2:09:50) in the women's race.
This year, the 37th Spar Budapest Marathon Festival attracted athletes from 89 countries and 830 localities.
