The Hungarian Wine Academy has awarded the Wine Producer of the Year for the 27th time. This time, the recognition went to an internationally known winemaker, Mátyás Szõke whose winery is in the Mátra hill region, east of Budapest.
Mátyás Szõke has been involved in wine making since the 1970s - currently working with one of his sons, Zoltán on 35 hectares. In addition to numerous domestic prizes, his Chardonnay wine won the Champion prize twice at the VinAgora International Wine Competition. Apart from domestic wine dealers, two wholesalers also sell his wines overseas.
