Hungarian Flag Projected at the Matterhorn

On the night of April 24, Zermatt Tourism officials projected the Hungarian flag onto the 1.000-meter-high east wall of the Matterhorn mountain situated on the border between Switzerland and Italy.

With the #hope project whose motto is ‘Light is hope!’, the Swiss town of Zermatt wants to give people hope and strength in this difficult time of the Covid-19 pandemic, call for solidarity and say thank you to the people who are doing almost inhumane things these days.

Their greeting to Hungary and its population says that “like Switzerland, Hungary is a landlocked country. Many Hungarians work in Switzerland – also in Zermatt. For them, the Matterhorn lighting is a sign that should bring hope and perseverance. With this campaign we want to express our solidarity with the Hungarian people and we want the signal to give them hope and strength to weather the crisis well.”
